The SSUNS will provide a new shortrange (urban) night sight capability that will integrate with the M40A3, M82A3, and a semi-automatic sniper rifle. The SSUNS is a lightweight, weapon mounted, and battery operated imaging device for engagement of targets at night and low light conditions. The SSUNS is an individual optic, capable of assisting scout sniper teams engaging targets during reduced light and/or obscured targets with increased identification certainty from 25-400 yards. The SSUNS shall be used in conjunction with the SSDS.
The SONOD optimally will interface with the SSOT. The SONOD is a lightweight, night vision device for detecting, recognizing, observing, identifying, and ranging targets during reduced light and/or obscured targets to 400 yards for man-sized targets and to 800 yards for vehicle-sized targets. The SONOD will be used in conjunction with the SSOT.
AN/PVS-24 is an individual imaging device capable of acquiring targets at night with increased recognition certainty when used in conjunction with the RCO variants. AN/PVS-24 shall be mounted on all versions of M16 and M4 series weapons equipped with integral MIL-STD-1913 rail systems.
